FAQs

  • Why should I use a travel advisor instead of booking myself?

Research takes time you don't have, and the internet is full of hype. Here's what you get working with Jake, an affiliate of Fora Travel:

Priority treatment. Travel advisor bookings get top priority at hotels—above direct bookings, credit cards, and sites like Expedia. When issues happen, you're first in line.

Perks you can't access. Room upgrades, late checkout, welcome amenities, resort credits—benefits that aren't available booking online.

Honest recommendations. I've vetted these properties firsthand. You get real insights, not algorithmic suggestions or affiliate-driven hype.

Someone handling it. If plans change or problems come up, I'm in your corner—not a call center or chatbot.

  • How far in advance should I book?

For the best availability and rates, book 3-6 months ahead—especially for peak seasons or popular destinations. That said, I can work with shorter timelines. Last-minute trips are possible, but your options narrow.

  • What destinations do you cover?

I focus on design-forward properties and authentic experiences worldwide. I've personally vetted hotels and destinations across Europe, Mexico, Asia, Oceania, and select US cities, but I can plan trips anywhere. If I haven't been somewhere yet, I only recommend places I'd actually send myself to.

  • What sort of clients do you work with?

I work with couples, solo travelers, families, and small groups. Whether it's a romantic getaway, a family trip, or friends traveling together, I plan for how you actually travel—not some cookie-cutter version of it.

  • Do you accommodate travelers with accessibility needs?

Absolutely. I work with travelers who have mobility requirements, dietary restrictions, sensory sensitivities, and other accessibility needs. I vet properties for ADA compliance, coordinate with hotels on specific accommodations, and build itineraries that work for your requirements—not against them. Everyone deserves travel that's genuinely enjoyable, not just aspirational.

  • What if I need to cancel or change my trip?

Service fees are non-refundable once I've delivered your itinerary, but I'm flexible if plans shift before then. Hotel cancellation policies vary by property—I'll make sure you understand terms before booking.

  • How does payment work?

Service fees ($149-$499) are due upfront once we agree on your itinerary details and I start building your plan. I earn commission from hotels and activity bookings, which costs you nothing extra—you pay the same rates (or better) than you would booking directly.

For VIP Concierge clients: The $349 service fee covers my planning and coordination. You'll still pay separately for hotels, activities, guides, and ground transportation—I just handle all the booking and logistics.

  • How do you handle payments for hotels and activities?

When you fill out the intake form, I'll securely collect your credit card information to use for booking your hotels, tours, and experiences. This makes the process seamless—I handle everything and you get one consolidated view of charges. If you'd prefer to use a different payment method for any bookings, just let me know and I'll coordinate that instead.

  • How many trips do you plan at once?

I keep my client load intentionally small so every trip gets real attention. If I'm at capacity, I'll let you know my next availability rather than rush your planning.

  • Do you only book luxury hotels?

I book design-forward properties that deliver on experience—not just price tags. That might be a $200/night boutique hotel or a $1,000/night resort, depending on what fits your trip and standards.

  • Can I book hotels myself and just use you for itinerary planning?

Yes. The $149 Custom Itinerary service includes hotel recommendations and booking, but if you'd rather book directly, I can work around that. Just know you might miss out on exclusive perks I can secure as an affiliate of Fora Travel.

  • What happens on our discovery call?

We'll talk through your travel style, preferences, budget, and what you want out of the trip. It's a quick 20-30 minutes—no pressure, just figuring out if we're a good fit.

  • Do you charge for the discovery call?

    No. It's complimentary.

  • What if I don't like the itinerary?

Custom Itineraries include up to 3 rounds of revisions. I'll keep refining until it feels right. If we're not aligned after that, we'll figure it out—but that's rare.

  • Are you available while I'm traveling?

For VIP Concierge clients, yes—I'm reachable if something goes wrong or plans need adjusting. For Custom Itinerary clients, I'm available for urgent issues but not for day-to-day check-ins.
